| Here's a Sneak Preview of my current work in progress.
Unedited Version Excerpt "Bad Kitty" (working title) "He should be Okay as long as we can keep him here for a few days. Any luck finding his owner?" It had been a long day for Dr. Jason Bickham. While he didn't mind the hours, ending the day treating injuries to a pet, caused by a negligent owner always pissed him off. Most people would argue that it was the driver's fault the dog got hurt but Jason was a firm believer in responsible pet ownership. If the dog hadn't been loose in the first place he wouldn't have gotten hit and left by the side of the road to die. Plus Nana Maggie was making spaghetti for dinner, his favorite, and now he was late. "Sorry Doctor, but you have one more patient to see yet before we can leave," Dana their resident Vet. Technician informed him. "It's after hours; tell them to bring whatever it is back tomorrow. Unless it's an emergency?" "No, no, it's not an emergency," she reassured him. "But I really think you should see the cat." "Why? Is the owner someone famous? Rich? Important? Even if he is, I don't give a shit!" He stormed out of the operating room and into the only one of the three exam rooms with a chart on the door. "I don't give a damn who you are, it's after hours, bring the cat back tomorrow… " His first whiff of her stopped him dead. Her scent was so intoxicating it drove every other thought right out of his head. She was a Potential! He took a moment to look her over. Not beautiful by the current standards of tall anorexic super models, her beauty was more classical, like Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe. She had a nice hourglass figure with full hips, a narrow waist and just enough cleavage for a hand and mouth full, just the way he liked it. High, sculpted cheekbones and almond shaped eyes reminiscent of fine chocolate gave her face a slightly exotic look. His eyes fastened on her lower lip, just a bit fuller than the other, begging to be sucked. Her hair was the color of well aged mahogany pulled back into a tight conservative bun with short wisps of it escaping, artfully framing her face. "Are you Dr. Bickham? I'm sorry to bother you after hours but Chuck really needed to be checked out and…" "Let me see the cat," he interrupted with a sigh. After all they were already there, might as well take a look. A cursory exam of Chuck brought him right back to the boiling point. The cat had obviously been neglected, maybe even abused. "Lady, you've got a lot of nerve! First you treat this poor animal like crap and then you come in after hours expecting us to fix her up again? What the hell is wrong with you? No creature deserves to be treated like that," his blue eyes flashed dangerously as he ranted. "Jason Anthony Bickham! You apologize to Erin right this minute. I know you were raised better than that and believe you me, you are not too big for me to bend over my knee yet," Maggie exclaimed as she walked into the room closely followed by Dana. Still wide eyed with shock at being spoken to like some criminal, Erin could only watch as Maggie tore into him. "I'm sorry Dr. Bickham but when she heard you yelling she insisted on coming in," Dana explained.
And for the rest of the story you'll just have to buy the book
